Yesterday's 0-2 performance brought me to even winnings on the year with a 65-60-2 record. The Grizzlies never got it going against the Mavericks and I missed my Warriors cover by a half point. The spread moved from 8½ to 7½ before game time but I had made my pick based on the morning line. All the games on today's schedule are in the afternoon to stay away from the Super Bowl. Atlanta Hawks at Orlando Magic
It is a short trip from Atlanta to Orlando and the Hawks have won their first 2 games against the Magic this year. The Magic have lost 3 straight since breaking their 8 game losing streak but the 3 losses were against elite teams (Spurs, Thunder, an Clippers). I think the Hawks will ride the wave of their big win against the Pacers Friday and blow out the Magic on the road so I'll take the Hawks giving 3½ points to the Magic.

NBA Point Spread Predictions February 6th, 2016
I split on yesterday's two picks with the Clippers easily covering against the Magic while the Cavaliers not only didn't cover against the Celtics - they managed to lose a game they had well in hand. My season record stands at 65-58-2 with winnings of $220. Tonight's games includes a number of teams on back to back games as well as the first meeting of the season between the Warriors and Thunder. Both teams played last night - the Mavericks losing at home to the Spurs and the Grizzlies beating the Knicks in New York. Even though the Grizzlies have had to travel further I like the fact that they are at home and they have won 9 of 10 games so give me the Grizzlies and lay the 6½ points.

The Warriors have handled every challenge thrown their way this season and now face the Thunder's dynamic duo of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. As talented as the Thunder are I doubt their undisciplined approach will allow them to beat the Warriors. I'll take the Warriors and give the 8½ points.

Last night's Raptors pick boosted my winnings to $230 on a 64-57-2 record. There are a number of odd looking point spreads on tonight's 10 game schedule and they all seem to point to money being put on the home team. The Nets are 6 point dogs at home to the Kings, the Mavericks 6½ dogs to the Spurs, and the Knicks getting 3½ at home to the Grizzlies despite having played last night. The Cavaliers suffered a stunning double digit loss to an injury hobbled Hornets team on Wednesday and return home to play a hot Celtics team that has won 7 of 8. The Cavs haven't lost 2 games in a row since Christmas and the 7 points seem like a bargain. Give me the Cavs to win and lay the 7 to Boston.

The Raptors have struggled on their western road trip, getting blown out in Denver an barely beating a moribund Suns team that was getting the 'dead cat bounce' from switching coaches. Meanwhile the Trailblazers have won five in a row on their homestand with 4 of the wins by double digits. I think the Raptors backcourt of Lowry and DeRozan will battle the Blazers guard duo of Lillard and McCollum to a stalemate and make the Raptors frontcourt advantage the predominate factor. Give me the Raptors and the point to get the road win at Portland.

NBA Point Spread Predictions February 2nd, 2016
I had another lucky split yesterday. The Cavaliers were not going to cover until the game went into overtime. Even then I needed 2 last second free throws by LeBron James to cover the 4½ spread by a half point. I was luckier still to get my pick in early since the line move to 5 by game time. The Pistons late rally nearly covered but a late free throw miss by Markus Morris left the Pistons with a 5 point win which was not enough to cover the early 5½ spread that moved to 7 by game time. My record stands at 61-54-2 with winnings of $260 heading into tonight's thin slate of games.
