The Pacers lost at home to the Trailblazers who were on the tail end of a back to back. Now it is the Pacers turn to play the back to back on the road against Cleveland. The Cavaliers were blown out in Washington last night but LeBron James had the day off. I think a rested King James will help the Cavaliers cover the 6 point spread so give me the Cavs.

Philadelphia 76ers at Washington Wizards
The Wizards are playing their best ball of the season as they attempt to sneak into the playoffs and beat the LeBron less Cavaliers at home last night while the 76ers were being blown out by the Magic in Orlando. I like the Wizards to continue their good play and the 76ers to continue their quest for the top draft pick. I'll take the Wizards and give the hefty 11½ points to the 76ers.

NBA Point Spread Predictions February 28th, 2016

Yesterday's loss can be chalked up to making my picks in the early morning. Sometimes the team I bet against has to scratch a star playe and sometimes like last night the team I bet on (the Pelicans) has their star player (Anthony Davis) suffer an injury in the pre-game warm ups and get scratched. Even so, the Pelicans had to have a major collapse to blow a 10 point 4th quarter lead and lose my bet for me. My record now stands at 79-76-2 with loss of $360. Minnesota Timberwolves at Dallas Mavericks
The Timberwolves are playing with great energy while the Mavericks needed a miracle comeback Friday to beat the Nuggets in overtime at home. Nevertheless I think the Timberwolves will be tired and the Mavericks disciplined enough to win this winnable game so I'll take the Mavs and give the 6½ points.

Portland Trailblazers at Indiana Pacers
The Trailblazers have win 12 of 14 while Pacers haven't had a blowout win since February 3rd. This is the Blazers first back to back game in over a month so I will take the Pacers to pull this game out and I'll give the 4½ to the traveling Blazers.

The Grizzlies came through yesterday to easily cover against the Lakers and the Lakers yesterday to lower my loses to $250 on a 79-75-2 record. Minnesota Timberwolves at New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans are coming off their best win of the season which was Wednesday's 4 point win over the Thunder. The Timberwolves have been incredibly inconsistent lately, losing to the Knicks while beating the Raptors and Celtics so an upset or a cover of the 4 point spread is not out of the question. All things considered I like the Pelicans to build off their big win and will take New Orleans and give the 4 points.

Memphis Grizzlies at Los Angeles Lakers
Picking the Grizzlies at home against the Lakers worked out well enough even though my heart was in my throat when the Lakers were allowed to score 6 straight points in the last 63 seconds to turn a 15 point laugher into a 9 point win to barely cover the 8 point spread. With center Marc Gasol lost for the season the Grizzlies know they have to win against the bottom feeders of the NBA to make the playoffs and the Lakers are the quintessential bottom feeders of the NBA this season. Ill take the Grizzlies and give the 4½ points to the Lakers.

NBA Point Spread Predictions February 25th, 2016

My picks went 3-2 yesterday. I hit big on the Piston and Thunder blowouts and lost on the CLippers getting upset by the Nuggets. The other two games were either lucky or unlucky. The Raptors missed covering by a half point when Corey Joseph missed a free throw with 15 seconds left but the Grizzlies held on to cover by one point after letting the Lakers get the last 11 points of the game. My record now stands at 78-74-2 with losses of $240. Tonight's slate of 6 games seem especially challenging. The Spurs, Thunder, and Warriors are playing the second game of back to backs on the road and I am loathe to pick against the NBA's elite teams or pick road favorites on back to backs. Milwaukee Bucks at Boston Celtics
The Celtics have won 8 straight at home and begin a stretch of games where they will be home for 7 of the next 8 games. The Bucks have won 4 of their last 5 including a 112-111 home win over the Celtics two weeks ago when the Celtics were on a back to back. I like the Celtics's disciplined play to take advantage of the Bucks youth and will pick Boston giving the 8 points.

The 76ers lost to the Magic at home by 9 last night and now travel to Detroit to take on a Pistons team that is coming off an impressive win against the tired Cleveland Cavaliers. Detroit hasn't been playing very well but Philly is on another one of their long losing streaks and should be tired from the back to back games. I'll take the Pistons to ride the wave of their win over Cleveland and will give the 10½ points.

Oklahoma City Thunder at Dallas Mavericks
The Thunder have beaten the Mavs 3 times this year with two of the wins by 3 points. The Thunder are 4½ favorites tonight. The Thunder rebounded from their nationally televised loss to the Warriors earlier this month with 2 straight blowouts and I like their chances to follow Sunday's nationally televised loss to the Cavaliers with a big win tonight so give me the Thunder and lay the 4½ points.

Los Angeles Lakers at Memphis Grizzlies
The Kobe Bryant farewell tour heads to Memphis tonight for a game against the new-look Grizzlies. The Lakers are in the midst of another losing streak (6 games this time) while the Grizzlies are struggling to come to grips with the loss of center Marc Gasol for the season. I believe the Grizzlies will take the opportunity for an easy home win and will give the 8 points to the hapless Lakers.

Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers followed their miracle cover against the Warriors Saturday night with a 40 point blowout of the Suns. The Nuggets lost at home last night to the Kings and lost to the Clippers by 17 when the teams met back in November. I like the Clippers to get another blowout and will give the 10 points.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Toronto Raptors
The Timberwolves beat the Raptors earlier this month and Raptors coach Dwane Casey accused his team of giving a poor effort and taking the Wolves lightly. I expect a focused effort tonight and will take the Raptors giving the 9½ to the Wolves.

A late cover by the Warriors gave me a 2-1 mark for yesterday to raise my record to 74-72-2 with losses of $420. Detroit Pistons at Cleveland Cavaliers
Both teams played last night and are headed in opposite directions. The Pistons have lost 5 in a row while the Cavaliers are on a 5 game winning streak with all 5 wins by double digits. There is the possibility the Cavs will be fat and happy after yesterday's big win against the Thunder but I like the odds of a blowout and will pick the Cavaliers and give the 9½ points.

Toronto Raptors at New York Knicks
As much as I hate picking teams that are playing the second game of a back to back on the road I think the Raptors have too much firepower for the Knicks to handle. The Knicks finally broke their 7 game losing streak on Saturday at Minnesota against the same Timberwolves that beat the Raptors last week but I feel the loss will keep the Raptors from taking the Knicks lightly. Give me the Raptors on the road an lay the 4 point.

Golden State Warriors at Atlanta Hawks
The Warriors were cruising to a victory over the Clippers Saturday when they took their foot off the gas and allowed a late cover. I think that will motivate Golden State to not let Atlanta have any hope in thus game should they get a big lead. The Hawks have looked awful since the all-star break and I wonder if the trade rumors that were floated about their star players have demotivated them. Taking the Warriors and only having to give 7 points seems like a good deal for me so count me in on the Warriors.

I won my lone bet last night when the Clippers scored the last 13 points of the game against the Warriors for a backdoor cover that will forever be known to me as the 'Pablo Prigioni miracle'. Now that the trading deadline has past both these contending teams know exactly who will be on their roster as they drive towards the championship. The Cavaliers defeated the Thunder in December without Kyrie Irving and I expect them to be do the same in Oklahoma City today so give me the Cavs and I even get 3 points as a bonus.

Los Angeles Lakers at Chicago Bulls
The Lakers have lost the last 4 games of the 'Kobe farewell tour' season but have managed to stay in single digits in all 4 losses. I like the Bulls to build on their fluky win against the Raptors and will take Chicago and give the Lakers the 7 points.

Utah Jazz at Portland Trailblazers
The Trailblazers have to be sky high after Friday's beatdown of the Golden State Warriors. They are playing great and I like them to take this home contest against the Jazz who are on their 3rd game in 4 nights. I'll take the Blazers and give the 3½ points.

Chicago Bulls at Cleveland Cavaliers
Not only are the Bulls decimated by injuries, the players hurt are the best defenders of LeBron James (Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson). While my Tony Parker comment above could equally apply to Derrick Rose and the trading deadline may mean both teams will be shorthanded I think James will assert his dominance and will take the Cavaliers giving the 12 points.

The Spurs are on the second game of a back to back but they may get Tim Duncan back and I expect their discipline to hold off the athletic Magic. Give me the Spurs laying the 7½ points.

The Heat have not shown they can beat elite teams while the Spurs regularly blow out less than elite teams. That convinces me to take the Spurs and give the 7 points.

Yesterday's 0-2 performance brought me to even winnings on the year with a 65-60-2 record. The Grizzlies never got it going against the Mavericks and I missed my Warriors cover by a half point. It is a short trip from Atlanta to Orlando and the Hawks have won their first 2 games against the Magic this year. Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden State Warriors
The Warriors have handled every challenge thrown their way this season and now face the Thunder's dynamic duo of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. As talented as the Thunder are I doubt their undisciplined approach will allow them to beat the Warriors. I'll take the Warriors and give the 8½ points.

The Cavaliers suffered a stunning double digit loss to an injury hobbled Hornets team on Wednesday and return home to play a hot Celtics team that has won 7 of 8. The Cavs haven't lost 2 games in a row since Christmas and the 7 points seem like a bargain. Give me the Cavs to win and lay the 7 to Boston.

The Clippers head to the east coast for a 4 game swing after closing their homestand with an inexplicable loss to the Timberwolves. The Raptors have struggled on their western road trip, getting blown out in Denver an barely beating a moribund Suns team that was getting the 'dead cat bounce' from switching coaches. I think the Raptors backcourt of Lowry and DeRozan will battle the Blazers guard duo of Lillard and McCollum to a stalemate and make the Raptors frontcourt advantage the predominate factor. Portland has won 4 straight on their current 6 game homestand, 3 by double digits. The Bucks played in Sacramento last night and are losers of 3 straight and 5 of 6. Picking against road teams on the second half of a back to back is one of my favorite plays so give me the Trailblazers and lay the 6½ points.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Los Angeles Lakers
Minnesota is on a 4 game losing streak while the Lakers are in the midst of a 10 game skid. Both teams will be desperate to win this game but I like the Timberwolves to take this battle of the NBA's worst and will give the 4½ points to the hapless Lakers.

NBA Point Spread Predictions February 1st, 2016

Yesterday was a very lucky split. The Celtics not only failed to cover against the Magic - they ended Orlando's 7 game losing streak. Luckily the Mavericks bailed me out with a 23-9 4th quarter to barely cover despite not having Dirk Nowitzki. The split cut my winnings to $270 on a 60-53-2 record. I have 2 road favorites tonight using the betting lines from the Betonline.ag lines as listed on the Yahoo Sports page for entertainment purposes only with $110 wagered on each game taking $100 on my wins unless otherwise stated.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Indiana Pacers
The Pacers barely beat the Nuggets at home on Friday and tonight the red-hot Cavaliers are coming to town. I like the Cavaliers to continue their hot streak and will happily give the 4½ points to the Pacers.

Detroit Pistons at Brooklyn Nets
The Nets have lost 3 in a row after their shocking upset of the Oklahoma City Thunder last Sunday. The Pistons have lost 2 in a row while stumbling through uneven performances over the last month. In November the Nets beat the Pistons 87-83 in Brooklyn, I expect Pistons big man Andre Drummond to neutralize Nets center Brooke Lopez and lead the pistons to a comfortable win so give me the Pistons laying the 5½ points.
